Silver Proof Welsh Dragon
This is the first release in a new series of silver proof coins Dragons Of Legend, this first coin features the Red Welsh dragon. The red dragon emblem was most likely introduced into Britain by the Romans, accounts suggest that when the legions departed, Welsh Britons under the red dragon fought Saxon invaders. History tells us that Welsh born future king Henry VII flew a red dragon standard during the Wars of the Roses, and that it subsequently appeared in the Tudor Royal Arms. After centuries of powerful association the red dragon or Y Ddraig Goch became the official symbol of Wales in 1901 and since 1959 it has adorned the nations national flag. No more than 5,000 coins of these coins will be minted by the Perth Mint, each silver proof coin will be struck from .999 silver in proof quality. The coins reverse portrays a red coloured dragon amid dramatic mountain scenery, included on the reverse are the words RED WELSH DRAGON, this coin is housed in a black presentation case and illustrated shipper accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
Forthcoming future Releases will be the Chinese Dragon, St. George Dragon, Bulgarian Three Headed Dragon and the European Green Dragon.
