New Silver Cougar Bullion Coin Released
The Royal Canadian Mints three year Canadian Wildlife series will feature its third release this month when the 2012 Silver Cougar Bullion Coin is issued, a total of a 1,000,000 coins will be minted. Like the first two coins which featured the Grizzly Bear and the Timberwolf, the Cougar silver bullion coin is minted from .9999 fine silver. Information on the bullion Cougar silver coin was unveiled by Mint officials at the American Numismatic Associations 2011 Worlds Fair of Money in Chicago, Illinois. Canadian Mint engraver William Woodruff designed the reverse of this new 2012 Cougar silver coin which depicts the solitary cat perched on the fallen branch of a tree, the obverse of this coin is designed by Susanna Blunt with the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The Canadian Wildlife silver bullion series features reverse designs emblematic of the diverse array of wildlife that can be encountered in the vast landscape of Canada. The fourth strike will appear in 2012 with the remaining two to feature the 2013 dates.
