Sliver Lunar Dragon Proof Released
The Perth Mint of Australia has just released the newest editions of the new Australian Lunar Series II - the 2012 Year of the Dragon Gold and Silver Bullion Coins, the coins in the series are either struck from .999 pure gold or .999 pure silver and to several different sizes of coins, and also a three-coin set comprising 2oz, 1oz and 1/2oz coins. The Perth Mint will mint a total of nine different sizes of the 2012 Year of the Dragon Gold Coins, this includes 10 kilo, 1 kilo, 10 ounce, 2 ounce, 1 ounce, 1/2 ounce, 1/4 ounce, 1/10 ounce and 1/20 ounce, of these no mintage limit will be applied to the 1kg, 10oz, 2oz, 1/2oz, 1/4oz, 1/10oz, and 1/20oz sized strikes. There will be a total of seven different sized 2012 Year of the Dragon Silver Coins will be struck, these include 10 kilo, 1 kilo, 10 ounce, 5 ounce, 2 ounce, 1 ounce and 1/2 ounce, once again, no mintage limits will be applied to all but two of the strikes - the 10 kilo and the one ounce. These coins are centered around the Chinese zodiac and depicting the fifth animal of 12 featured in the zodiac - the Dragon, with previous releases being the 2011 Rabbit and 2010 Tiger. There will be a limit of only 5000 silver proofs of the Dragon to be minted and 500 1kg sized coins, the popularity of these coins will make them very difficult to get hold of, expect to pay a high premium on any of the Dragon releases. The reverse of each coin will depict a traditional Chinese dragon a long scaled serpentine creature with four legs, with a pearl of wisdom. The Chinese character for dragon and the inscription Year of the Dragon will also appear in the design with The Perth Mints traditional P mintmark.
