The Golden Hind Silver Proof Coin

Over the last three years the New Zealand Mint has released a limited edition 3 coin series to celebrate New Zealands most loved native icon the kiwi, a different design has been issued annually from 2009 till 2011 celebrating the uniqueness of New Zealand with the kiwi bird. Perth Mint Releases New Coin Series (Santa Maria)
The Australian Perth Mint has released a new series of silver bullion coins, this first fabulous coin release in the series celebrates the Santa Maria and the voyage of explorer Christopher Columbus to the Americas. The Santa Maria ( Santa Maria de La Immaculada Concepcion) was the largest of three ships used by Columbus on his first voyage 1492-1493. Columbus was searching for a quicker trade route to the East Indies and instead he discovered the islands just off the coast of America now known as the Bahamas.

The reverse of this coin features a mature Grizzly Bear roaring and standing on all fours on the edge of a body of water, the coin has been designed by senior mint engraver William Woodruff, the obverse of the coin contains the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the portrait was designed in 2003 by artist Susanna Blunt. A mintage of 1 million coins have been minted.

Silver Piedfort Maple Leaf
The Royal Canadian Mint introduces this unique 2010 silver piedfort maple leaf coin, the first pure silver piedfort coin featuring a beautiful Maple Leaf design. Mintage is limited to 9,000 coins worldwide of which 3,000 are part of a set. Piedfort coins, whose name comes from the French for heavy measure, originated in medieval Europe. Coin makers deliberately made their die templates thick and heavy to ensure they would not be confused with regular coins.
