Elements include a coloured image of fireworks on a black, red and gold background and a representation of the Quadriga, a chariot and four horses driven by the Roman goddess Victory, which sits atop the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin. The Perth Mint has struck Australias official commemorative Kookaburra for the Shanghai World Expo 2010, which is to taking place between 1 May and 31 October. The reverse of the coin features a coloured depiction of Peng Peng, the Australian pavilions kookaburra mascot, and the Chinese characters for Peng Peng. The design includes the Australian pavilions colourful logo which is a representation of the Australian continent in three wavy lines symbolising the blue sea and sky, red centre and golden beaches. A rare 1794 U.S. silver dollar has set a new record price, the Neil/Carter/Contursi specimen 1794 Flowing Hair Silver DollarĀ has sold for $7.85 million. What makes this particular silver coin so rare is that it is the finest known 1794 dollar and several experts believe this could be the first silver dollar ever struck by the United States Mint. Steven L. Contursi, who has owned the 1794 Silver Liberty dollar for the past seven years confirmed thursday he has sold it to the Cardinal Collection Educational Foundation of Sunnyvale for $7.85 million.
